Thankfully, Tarte seems to have listened to my silent plea, and they have released several TSV exclusive products/shades into their permanent line. The first of these products that I'm going to talk about it their Beauty and the Box in Brewed Awakening, which is currently selling for $22 at Sephora, Ulta, or Tarte's website.
First of all, please take a minute and admire the packaging. It's a cute cardboard box that reminds me of the Benefit box powders, but the Tarte box is slightly bigger and made from heftier cardboard. Each color selection also has a different design on the box, which is a nice touch.
On to the actual shadows!

As you can see, the box contains four colors, but they are pressed together in the same pan. I'm not in love with this design because it seems like it would become a pain when I get close to hitting pan, but since that will probably never happen, it doesn't bother me too much. Each color is also wide enough that a brush fits easily, so it isn't challenging to get just one color on my brush.

Bottom line: Would I pay full price for this shadow quad? Sadly, no. I'm a big fan of Tarte as a brand, but their shadows don't impress me. I get excited every time I see a new palette from them, but then I have to talk myself down because I know I'll be disappointed when I compare them to my Urban Decay palettes.
What Tarte shadows do you own? What do you think of the quality?
The box is super cute..
ReplyDeleteIt is! I just wish the product inside lived up to the box. :-(
DeleteI had a Tarte palette awhile ago and I agree with you on the quality. I was pretty disappointed with the lack of pigmentation and just never used them that much. Such a shame because they have pretty colours.
ReplyDeleteTheir colors are really pretty. They always look so tempting. I really have to convince myself that new palettes aren't worth trying out.
DeleteI have a few Tarte e/s palettes. Some of the shadows have good pigmentation, while some of them could be better. I only buy them when they're in a set (Treat Yourself to Gorgeous, Carried Away, and The Big Thrill) or in a packaging I just can't resist (True Blood).
ReplyDeleteI judge my Tarte purchases based on whether or not I'm sure about most of the products. With the holiday sets that were primarily shadows, I didn't feel the need to purchase them. In QVC sets where shadows are just a small part of the kit, it's a lot more likely that I'll pick it up.
DeleteHi there I am visiting from the GFC blog hop and now a new follower. I have to be very careful with QVC. I love their stuff. My last purchase was a pair of shoes. I was really leery of ordering shoes online but they fit great and I love them.
ReplyDeleteI can see why you are addicted to these boxes too. They are really lovely. I too adore boxes of all sorts. Ihave all different sizes and shapes. I even have some old antique boxes from the docks in Maine that I use as end tables.
Please do visit me at http://expressionsneeded.blogspot.com/ and I hope you will return the favor and also follow me. Happy week to you!:-)
I don't order shoes or clothes online. There's just too much of a risk for me, and returning is such a hassle.
DeleteI'm a sucker for storage containers in general. Your antique boxes sound like a really cool idea!

ReplyDeletethese are so nice. I wear a smokey eye look but struggle to find the right colours. I usually use a Models Own 'Smokey Eye' kit; this one looks great though.
ReplyDeletei found you through the blog hop (still going through my favourite blogs!) and am now following you:)

You are right that it would probably work well for a brown smokey eye.
